Caregiving and Veterans Resources
Resource offered by the Family Caregiver Alliance. Whether it’s former “empty nest” parents resuming a caregiving role for unmarried children returned home as injured veterans, or a spouse of a veteran who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the responsibilities of the veteran’s caregiver can become incredibly overwhelming. With today’s medical care system and technologies, we’re seeing more veterans living longer lives. We’ve compiled resources on this page to provide answers and links to resources for those experiencing these caregiving situations, as well as for veterans themselves.

US Army VA Program of General Caregiver Support Services To Solders
The Program of General Caregiver Support Services (PGCSS) is one of two programs within the Caregiver Support Program (CSP). PGCSS provides peer support mentoring, skills training, coaching, telephone support, online programs and referrals to available resources to Caregivers of Veterans. The Veteran must be enrolled in Veterans Affairs (VA) health care and be receiving care from a Caregiver in order for the Caregiver to participate. Caregivers who participate in PGCSS are called General Caregivers. General Caregivers do not need to be a relative or live with the Veteran.
